Beware of Manufactures Dealer Listings. Spend the time to look through the dealer listings to find a dealer in your area most listings go by distance so it's easy to do. Look for a dealer closest to you by miles. Beware of the Gold or Silver listings these are the garage door companies that don't care about repairing your garage door opener compared to selling you a new one and that's why the Manufactures support them with TOP ratings.If you notice for instance on Genies web site they offer a list of their dealers. They don't list them or design the search to get you the closest dealer to you. They as well as other manufactures list dealers by the volume of product they buy from the Manufactures. Which means (not in all cases) that these are the companies that maybe selling you new products when in fact your old garage door opener or product is still good and repairable.Genie also rewards companies who sell more products by giving them TOP dealer positions on their search so beware these are the garage door companies that have more interest in selling you a new garage door opener then perhaps giving you an honest evaluation and choice of repairing your present garage door opener. The Manufactures encourage garage door companies to sell up most If not all give their dealers better pricing on new garage door openers and parts for the more they sell.So be smart think twice about the garage door dealer you choose you're better off searching by distance then by the manufactures ratings. Consumers tips Consumers tips when hiring a garage door company ask for the cost of the service call up front and if it includes any labor. If not what are the labor charges are they by the 1/2 hour or by the hour. Any garage door company can give this information over the phone if they tell you we need to see the job first they are the wrong company to hire and will more then likely rip you off. Most garage door companies charge anywhere from $95.00 to $120.00 for a service call and that should include 1/2 hour labor most jobs are completed within a half hour.
